Imperforate Penny Reds

The Penny Red imperforate begins at the Penny black plates some of which were used to print the first 1d reds and goes on to Plate 12 which was the first red only printing up until the last of the imperforate stamps with Plate 175. Within this range of plates is a very large area for collection and study.

Plates 12-45 are a group of plates usually cancelled by a Maltese Cross.

Plates 46-131, is a group which is Alphabet I most commonly cancelled by the "1844" cancellation.

Plates 132-175 are all Alphabet II.
